Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about running events on Cohost.

Getting Started & Events

Set up your account and build events — from a single night to a full recurring series.

What is Cohost?

Cohost is an event management and ticketing platform for professional organizers. You can create and publish events, sell tickets through your own branded checkout, manage orders and attendees, run on-site check-in, and connect the tools you already use — all from one dashboard.

How do I create an event?

From the dashboard, go to Events and choose Create. You set the event's title, description, images, location, and date, then add ticket types and publish when you're ready.

Can I run a recurring event or a series?

Yes. Cohost supports event series with multiple dates, so you can manage recurring events and individual instances from a single parent event instead of recreating them each time.

Can I create multiple ticket types for one event?

Yes. Each event can have multiple ticket types — for example General Admission, VIP, and Early Bird — each with its own price and inventory, all tracked independently.

Does Cohost support dynamic pricing?

Yes. You can configure pricing rules using cost components so prices adjust based on factors like time and inventory, with the calculation applied automatically at checkout.

Can I sell tables or reserved group seating?

Yes. You can create and manage seating tables for an event, and buyers can reserve or join a table during checkout — useful for galas, clubs, and group bookings.

How do I publish an event so people can buy tickets?

Each event has a publish step in the dashboard. Once published, your event goes live on your branded checkout where attendees can purchase tickets.

Can I manage multiple brands or organizers from one account?

Yes. Cohost is multi-tenant — you can switch between companies and manage multiple organizers, each with their own branding and assets, from a single login.

Tickets, Checkout & Payments

How money moves through Cohost — payment providers, fees, discounts, and the attendee buying experience.

Which payment providers does Cohost support?

Cohost processes payments through Stripe and Authorize.Net. Both are fully integrated, including payment pre-validation and confirmation handling.

How do I connect my payment account?

You connect Stripe to your company through an OAuth flow in the dashboard, so payouts go directly to your own account.

Can I add service fees or taxes?

Yes. You can define custom cost components — fees, taxes, and service charges — per event, and Cohost calculates them dynamically at checkout.

Can I offer discounts or promo codes?

Yes. You can create coupons and apply them to an event. Buyers enter the code at checkout and Cohost validates and applies the discount to their cart.

Is the checkout branded as mine?

Yes. Checkout runs under your brand so attendees buy from you — not from a generic third-party marketplace.

Do attendees get a mobile wallet pass?

Yes. Cohost generates Apple Wallet (.pkpass) and Google Wallet passes for tickets, so attendees can keep them on their phone.

Can buyers reserve a table during checkout?

Yes. If an event has tables configured, buyers can reserve a table or join an existing table commitment as part of the checkout flow.

Orders, Refunds & Attendees

Manage everything that happens after a sale — orders, refunds, transfers, and your attendee lists.

Where do I manage orders?

All orders live under Orders in the dashboard, where you can view order details, the attendees on each order, and the full history of changes.

Can I issue refunds?

Yes. Cohost supports both full and partial refunds through refund requests, and tracks the status of each refund.

Can a ticket be transferred to someone else?

Yes. You can transfer tickets between attendees from the order, so the right person holds the ticket without reissuing the whole order.

Can I import attendees I already have?

Yes. Cohost supports bulk attendee import, so you can bring in existing lists, and you can also add attendees manually.

Do buyers receive a confirmation email?

Yes. Order confirmation emails are sent automatically, and you can re-send a confirmation for any order.

Can I customize the confirmation email?

Yes. Each event has an email confirmation designer where you can build a custom order confirmation email.

Is there a full audit trail on orders?

Yes. Cohost keeps a detailed order history with diffs, so you can see exactly what changed on an order and when.

Can I search across all orders and attendees?

Yes. Global search lets you find orders and attendees across your events with filters, instead of digging through one event at a time.

Check-in & On-site Operations

Run the door with Cohost's scanning service — purpose-built for fast, reliable on-site check-in.

How do attendees check in at the door?

Check-in runs through Cohost's scanning service. Scanner devices register check-ins against the event's attendee list in real time.

How do scanning devices sign in?

Scanner devices log in with a PIN and receive a secure token, so staff can get a device ready quickly without sharing full account credentials.

Does check-in work if the internet drops?

Yes. Devices can sync the attendee list down ahead of time, so check-in keeps working even when connectivity at the venue is unreliable.

Can staff capture a photo at check-in?

Yes. The scanning service supports photo uploads during check-in, which is useful for verification and incident records.

Can I use more than one scanner at the same event?

Yes. You can register multiple scanning devices, and Cohost tracks each device with heartbeats so you can see which are active.

Is there a record of who checked in?

Yes. Check-ins are recorded with history, so you have a record of scans for each event.

Integrations, Automation & API

Connect Cohost to the rest of your stack and automate the busywork — plus build on the API directly.

What integrations does Cohost offer?

Cohost connects to tools across event sources, communication, and data — including DICE, Eventbrite, WordPress, Slack, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, SendGrid, Twilio, and Google Sheets. You manage connections from Settings, and can attach integrations to specific events.

Can I import events from Eventbrite?

Yes. You can connect your Eventbrite account through OAuth and import your Eventbrite events and organizations into Cohost.

Can I show my Cohost events on my WordPress site?

Yes. The WordPress integration lets you surface your Cohost events on your own WordPress site.

Can I send marketing emails and SMS?

Yes. Cohost sends transactional and marketing email through SendGrid and SMS through Twilio, with templating and scheduled, queue-based delivery.

What are workflows?

Workflows are automations you build in Cohost. You can create them, trigger them, and review their run history — so routine tasks run automatically instead of by hand.

Can external apps trigger automations in Cohost?

Yes. Cohost supports incoming webhooks, so events in other systems can trigger your Cohost workflows.

Does Cohost have an API?

Yes. Cohost is built on a versioned REST API covering events, orders, checkout, and more, so you can integrate Cohost into your own systems.

How do I get API access?

You generate and manage API tokens in Settings, then use them to authenticate requests to the Cohost API.
